  • In honor of my "staycation" I'll talk about my vacation

In honor of my first Saturday off in a loong time, Stacy and I headed to San Diego to just get away from work. Three hours of driving through some traffic in, ugh, Hemet, later...we got to Coronado Beach, a quaint little beach town off of an island of San Diego.

We spent at least three hours by the crisp ocean waves, taking pictures of each other, and watching the sand glitter with gold. It was like a paradise that I would have wanted to never leave. Seriously, if something happens in my industry, I would be happy being a beach bum and work for one of the resorts.

The beach is that-away. And so is the gun show.

It's too cold for some desert blood, LOL.

Then, we had lunch at a local New York-style pizza place. We had deep fried ravioli with ranch dressing and a BBQ Chicken pizza made with real New York water. I'm starting to eat everything with ranch dressing. Must be the Wisconsin upbringing.

Then, we went to explore the Gaslamp District with all of its stores and stuff. They were getting ready for Mardi Gras down in the area. We explored local art shops and souvenier clothing stores. I even picked up a free glass of wine at one new clothing store.

I found this really awesome gelato place that had 12 versions of chocolate gelato, including peppery spicy and dark chocolate. I ended up opting for my favorite Castro flavor: amaretti.

But I was soon kicking myself when I saw this:

And that is why I am coming to San Diego again. Seriously, I'm homesick for Ghiradelli ice cream and I cannot believe that they are selling it now in San Diego. So, we had to check out the store, the chocoholics that we are.

Yay for chocolate! I'm definitely coming back to San Diego just to have a Ghiradelli sundae.

Then, we met up with PAM! The Fabulous Pam! At her favorite pho restaurant called Little Saigon, which was also cheap and delicious. Doesn't graduate school look like it's wearing her down.

We needed to remedy that with a trip to North Point, which is another hip young scene of San Diego, for a concept that I have almost forgotten: desserting.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, but I look forward to enjoying my staycation for the next few days.

with the carefree beach walk, chocolate, nice food and company,  I wish the weekend lasts 30 days, :)   I do not mind being  a beach bum, if I can afford.
